South Florida beats Florida Atlantic 78-58

TAMPA, Fla. — Augustus Gilchrist scored a career-high 27 points and had seven rebounds, leading South Florida past Florida Atlantic 78-58 on Friday night.

Chris Howard scored a season-high 15 points, six rebounds and four assists for South Florida (6-1). Dominique Jones contributed 11 points, 10 assists and four rebounds for the Bulls.

Greg Gantt scored a season-best 19 points, Raymond Taylor added 12 and Brett Royster finished with 10 for Florida Atlantic (2-3).

South Florida led 39-36 early in the second half before Gilchrist scored 10 of South Florida’s 19 unanswered points to make it 58-36.

The Bulls took their biggest lead of the first half at 31-19 with eight points in a row. Taylor then pulled the Owls within two, scoring the last seven points in a 10-0 run. Gilchrist scored the last four points of the half, giving South Florida a 35-29 at the break.
