Philadelphia- The New York Yankees registered an outstanding victory against the Philadelphia Phillies in the game 3 of the World Series on Saturday night at the Central Bank Park. The Yankees displayed a power-packed performance and defeated the Phillies 8-5, thus achieving a 2-1 lead in the series.

Yankees player Nick Swisher displayed a scintillating performance and enabled his team to register its win against the defending champions after shedding off his postseason lump. After being benched in the second game of the series, the Game 3 of the World Series saw him play with excellent rhythm as he went on with the flow of the game and contributed 2-4 in the Yankees victory. Yankees scored thrice in the fifth innings, that enabled them to maintain their control over the game. Among the other Yankee players, Andy Pettite and Alex Rodriguez played immensely well to ensure the team’s victory.

This is a completely new scenario for the Philadelphia Phillies, who have not trailed in a game for quite some time now and it was evident from the game, that this time the team would have to sweat a lot more in order to win the World Series. Charlie Manuel, manager of the Phillies has emphasized that his team is taking Saturday’s loss in good spirit and it would provide them the impetus to do better in the next game. Moreover, the Game 3 started about 80 minutes late, owing to poor weather conditions and storm gathering over the venue but when it did get started, the outstanding game displayed by both the teams kept the huge crowd in the stadium in good spirits.
