All five Indian boxers in Asian Indoor Games semi-finals

October 21st, 2009 NEW DELHI - A seven-member Indian team for Vovinam, a martial art from Vietnam, will take part in the third Indoor Asian Games from Oct 30 at Hanoi. The team left Tuesday in order to get proper time to train at Ho Chi Minh City, which is the headquarter of the sport.

September 8th, 2009 NEW YORK - Ace Indian players Leander Peas and Mahesh Bhupathi have entered the semi-finals of the mixed doubles of the US Open with their respective partners. Leander Paes and Cara Black of Zimbabwe beat Rennae Stubbs and Robert Lindstedt to enter the mixed doubles semi-finals.

July 18th, 2009 NEW DELHI - The Indian challenge in the Asian Junior Badminton Championships ended Saturday with the 12-21, 15-21 loss of Pranav Chopra and Prajakta Sawant to China's Lu Kai and Bao Yixin in the mixed doubles semi-final at Kuala Lumpur. In the final, Kui and Yixin play compatriots Liu Peixuan and Xia Huan, who shocked top seed Thai pair Jongjit Maneepong and Chuthabunditkul Rodjana 21-18, 21-13.

Chopra and Sawant beat Malaysia's Tan Wee Tat and Ng Hui Ern 21-17, 21-12 on a day when other Indians lost in their respective categories.

According to information received here, Amandeep stunned the local crowd by knocking out Russian Aschabov Ibragim in the very first round during the semi-finals of the 48 kg category held Friday.

The World No.8 Indian was off to a flier, pocketing the first game with ease, but Hwang came back strong to take the second game and push the contest to decider.
