October 1st, 2009 CENTURION - David Hussey will replace an injured Australian vice-captain Michael Clarke for the ongoing International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy. Clarke had missed the matches against the West Indies and India due to a persistent lower back problem and will return home Thursday.

September 30th, 2009 JOHANNESBURG - The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the event technical committee of the ICC Champions Trophy 2009 has approved a change in the New Zealand squad for the tournament. Iain O'Brien will replace Daryl Tuffey for the Black Caps after Tuffey was forced out of the squad due to an injury to his hand.

September 12th, 2009 LAHORE - Flamboyant Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi has said he may consider quitting cricket if he does not perform according to his potential in the Champions Trophy beginning September 22 in South Africa. "If I am not that successful in Champions Trophy, then I may consider quitting the game for good," The Daily Times quoted Afridi, as saying.

September 3rd, 2009 DUBAI - Injured Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin will be replaced by Tim Paine while West Indies' Kevin Mclean will come in the side in place of Darren Powell for the Champions Trophy in South Africa later this month. International Cricket Council's (ICC) event technical committee confirmed the two changes here Thursday.

September 1st, 2009 MELBOURNE - Australia's cricket selectors have added West Australian middle order batsman Adam Voges to the Australia one-day squad on the tour of England. Voges, 32, replaces injured wicket-keeper Brad Haddin, who had surgery on a fractured finger last week.

August 23rd, 2009 KARACHI - Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq is disappointed after being dropped from the national squad and ignored for the ICC Champions Trophy, but has vowed to make a come back soon. Razzaq, who lost his place to Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, said he had regained his rhythm and was looking forward for the Champions Trophy to cement his place in the national squad.

August 21st, 2009 LAHORE - The seven member selection committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday controversially recalled paceman Mohammad Asif and opener Imran Nazir, but omitted all-rounder Abdul Razzaq from their 15-man squad for next month's Champions Trophy in South Africa. Pakistan is placed in Group A of the eight-nation Champions Trophy to be held from September 20 to October 5.

August 20th, 2009 LAHORE - Pakistan cricket chief selector Iqbal Qasim has ruled out ontroversial speedster Shoaib Akhtar's chances of getting into the ICC Champions Trophy squad. Qasim said there is only a 'remote' possibility of Akhtar getting a place in the team through a 'wild card'.

August 9th, 2009 LAHORE - Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif will have to prove his physical fitness on Sunday before being considered for the ICC Champions Trophy. The 26-year-old pacer, whose career had plummeted after he failed a dope test during the Indian Premier League's (IPL) inaugural season, is hoping to find a place in Pakistani team after serving a one-year ban imposed by the PCB.

August 6th, 2009 LAHORE - Pakistani fast bowler Abdur Rauf has said that he is going through a period of rest before the training camp for the Champions Trophy squad commences. Rauf was part of Pakistan's tour of Sri Lanka and featured in two of their Tests.

July 25th, 2009 BRIDGETOWN - The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Saturday said they will stick to the original 30-man squad for the Champions Trophy despite the availability of their frontline players following a truce between the board and the players association. West Indies' top players had refused to play in the just concluded two-Test series against Bangladesh in a dispute with the WICB over pay and contract issues.

July 4th, 2009 KARACHI - Pakistan is seriously considering recalling Mohammad Asif in the 30-member preliminary squad for this Septembers ICC Champions Trophy after the International Cricket Council (ICC) said it would not raise any objection against the pacers inclusion once he completes his doping ban. An ICC spokesman has said that once Asif completes his one-year ban on Sep 22 this year, he will be eligible to take part in any international event including the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in South Africa.
