August 1st, 2009 Mariners call up Snell to replace WashburnARLINGTON, Texas — The Seattle Mariners called up right-hander Ian Snell on Friday to take the rotation spot created when the team traded left-hander Jarrod Washburn to Detroit earlier in the day. Snell, acquired in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, will get his first start for Seattle on Sunday at Texas.
