andy-murrayAndy Murray’s dream of becoming the first British to reach the Wimbledon finals since Bunny Austin was put to an end by Andy Roddick who defeated the former in the Wimbledon semi finals, winning the match by 6-4, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6. The win puts Roddick opposite the favorite, Roger Federer in the Rolland Garros finals.

The much anticipated battle between the two giants of tennis saw the American coming out of all the odds thus defeating Murray in a well fought battle. As predicted, each of the player’s “serve” was supposed to play a key role in the match, and so it did. Both Roddick and Murray stacked aces during their service games with Roddick drawing the first blood in the first set. The second set belonged to Murray as he quickly picked things up knotting the match one set a piece.

The third set witnessed the sheer determination of Murray who came up from a 3-1 deficit to take it to a third set decisive tie-break. In the tie-break both men struggled to gain an upper hand over the other. Andy Roddick finally emerged as the winner of the third set as he won the tie-break via his timely served aces. The fourth set almost became a flash back of the third as both men blasted over 100 miles per hour serves. They finally reached a tie-break where Roddick emerged as the winner in the hard fought battle.

Roddick’s win in the semi-finals sets him a date with Roger Federer, who is setting his eyes to win the tournament for the sixth time. Although Federer seems to be a favorite for the tournament still the viewers are expected to witness a gala showdown between the two tennis maestros this Sunday.
