SUNNYVALE, California -
Zscaler, Inc., the market leader in cloud-delivered multi-tenant Security as a Service (SaaS), today announced the immediate availability of Safe Search for Microsoft Corp.’s newly-released Decision Engine, Bing. With a Safe Search solution like Zscaler’s, companies can further enforce appropriate access to Web content–including explicit images and videos. Without properly controlling access to search content, organizations invite risk and liability. And whereas with traditional software or hardware appliances similar deployment would have taken months, Zscaler was able to add this protection to its service within days of the availability of Bing.
Safe Search is an important feature for search engines on many counts. The Bing Smart Motion Preview was designed to enable consumers to preview video content before clicking on the video itself, helping them to more easily navigate vast amounts of video content on the Web to find something that best meets their needs. Corporations raised concerns with this feature, as it enabled people to access explicit content without leaving the Bing domain. Microsoft moved quickly to address this, however Zscaler Safe Search provides businesses with even more flexibility to enable people to use the Bing video preview while enforcing appropriate access policies.
Delivery of Safe Search for Bing also illustrates the benefits of SaaS security over traditional appliances. Adding Safe Search for Bing required no software or proxy changes by customers; it was entirely transparent to end-users.
“Zscaler shares our passion to protect a world full of Internet users, which is why we are working with them to advance and improve security,” said Mark Miller, director of Trustworthy Computing Product Management at Microsoft. “Microsoft continues to work internally and with partners like Zscaler to deliver the best possible security protection to our mutual customers.”
“As popular new Web services emerge, SaaS is the only way to keep up with securing them,” said Jay Chaudhry, Zscaler CEO. “Zscaler Safe Search for Bing was something customers asked for, and our SaaS platform enabled us to transparently deliver and implement it within days. It’s great to be able to keep coming back to customers with information that our security services are extending beyond what they initially signed up for!”
