QUEBEC - The Organizing Committee for the XIII International Winter Road Congress is inviting all winter road experts to register now to take part in this international congress.
Under the theme “Sustainable Winter Service for Road Users”, road system managers, researchers and specialists are invited to take part in the World Road Association’s (PIARC) XIII International Winter Road Congress, taking place in Québec February 8 to 11, 2010. On the occasion of this event presented for the first time in North America, about 1,500 participants from some 50 countries will get the chance to take stock of road management best practices for the environmentally responsible mobility and safety of users.
How to register
Since June 1st, online congress registration has been available at www.piarcquebec2010.org. Register soon to take advantage of lower rates.
A diversified program
Congress delegates can count on a full program: - Over 150 guest speakers; - Seven technical visits; - One ministers’ session: “How to promote winter mobility adapted to the climate;” - One international exhibition and equipment demonstrations.
New!
The Québec congress will offer two events previously unheard of in the history of PIARC winter road congresses:
- One winter city mayors’ session, during which these senior officials will present their policies on the theme of “Economic and Financial Governance of Winter Service;” - One international snowplow championship bringing together snowplow drivers from several countries in a skill competition judging the precision and safe driving demonstrated by these winter service professionals.
An eco-responsible congress
To reduce its environmental footprint, the Québec organizing committee is taking eco-friendly steps and is working together with the Québec City Convention Centre to organize a zero carbon event.
About PIARC
Now 100 years old, PIARC was created in Paris in 1909 as an apolitical non-profit organization. It is the oldest international association addressing policies, techniques and management associated with road systems.
