LONDON - VocaLink, the international payments specialist, announced today that it will be supporting the Oxfam Unwrapped campaign at this year’s Sibos conference in Hong Kong. VocaLink aims to donate GBP10,000 (HK $130,000) to Oxfam Hong Kong, an Oxfam International affiliate, to support the work of the office local to the conference. The donation will be split between three Oxfam Unwrapped causes: family learning, school reconstruction and water pipe construction.
Sibos delegates are invited onto the VocaLink stand (3E05) at the conference to pick up a token and vote for the cause they would most like to support. The result will be announced at an afternoon drinks reception at the company’s stand on Thursday 17 September and the total amount raised will be donated to Oxfam at the end of the Sibos week.
Kanie Siu, deputy director of Oxfam Hong Kong, comments: “We are delighted that VocaLink is supporting the Oxfam Unwrapped campaign at Sibos which helps us achieve our mission of working with people against poverty. The donation will enable us to help people of all ages with reading, writing and mathematics through the family learning initiative as well as allowing us to provide better, sturdier school buildings for students in rural China. The water pipe construction gift supports our work in poor communities where sources are far away and fetching water is a time consuming and strenuous task.”
Marion King, chief executive at VocaLink, adds: “Oxfam Hong Kong’s work is vital to supporting impoverished communities across the world. We are hoping that this year’s Sibos delegates will get behind the charity’s work by visiting our stand and voting for the cause they most want to support.”
