Platts to Launch Russian Pricing Reference for New Asia-Bound Oil Starting Mid-December

Platts, the energy information division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, plans to launch a price assessment for the new Russian crude oil which is slated to start flowing to Asian markets on December 16. The new crude stream, East Siberian Pipeline Oil (ESPO), will be exported from the port of Kuzmino near Vladivostok in Russia’s Far East at an initial rate of 300,000 barrels per day.

The company’s net profit for 1H 2009 dropped 11% (from RUB266.47 million for 1H 2008 to RUB236.18 million for 1H 2009). NDC’s total equity according to IFRS rose 13.8% to RUB1.947 billion (against RUB1.711 billion as of 31 December, 2008).

OPK: The First Floating Nuclear Power Plant Construction

MOSCOW - On May 18, 2009 the first floating nuclear power plant was set up in St. Petersburg (Russia). The contract, signed by OPK and “Concern Energoatom” PLC on February 27, 2009, anticipated the construction, launching, rebuilding and testing of the power plant. The exploitation of the head floating power-generating unit, with KLT-40C type reactor, is the final step of this project. According to the contract, the construction of the floating power-generating unit started on February 27th, 2009. By the II quarter of 2012 it is due to be completed. NDC and MICEX Settlement House Begin Providing New Settlement Service

MOSCOW - The National Depository Center (NDC), Russia’s only settlement depository servicing the full range of debt and equity securities of Russian issuers, announced today that starting 15 June 2009 NDC and MICEX Settlement House (MICEX SH) began offering a new service to settle transactions on a Delivery Versus Payment (DVP) basis using NDC and MICEX SH accounts with Euroclear Bank, the international central securities depository. As part of the new settlement arrangement, NDC is responsible for the securities record and MICEX SH controls the flow of funds. At this stage, settlements are conducted in a range of foreign currencies involving transactions with Russian Federation Eurobonds, ADRs and GDRs.
