DOHA, Qatar - 8 Teams and Projects Faced the Jury Upon Completion of the Design Challenge
‘Stars of Science’ offered again a suspenseful moment for its third prime-time episode last Friday, as the 8 teams of 2 contestants lined up to convince the jury on the design of their project.
The challenge had started with one of the original features of the program, its non-eliminatory factor, as the 8 candidates that qualified from the Engineering stage selected a team-mate among the 8 contestants whose project had not been retained by the jury.
Throughout this Design stage, the healthy team spirit between the pairs was evident as they combined their experience and developed together the packaging and aesthetic appeal of their projects.
Alongside the contestants, viewers were given the chance to discover the secrets of product design, as the candidates worked on the shapes, appearance and logos.
As the face-to-face encounter with the jury approached, the course of the challenge was not exempt of stressful moments. Sadly, one candidate, Taha Tissaoui, decided to leave the competition, which led his team-mate Bassam Jalgha complete the stage on his own.
At the end of the gripping series of presentations, the following candidates and their projects were selected by the jury for the next round:
1. Bassam Jalgha (Lebanon) - automatic tuner for string instruments
2. Mohammed Abu Harb (Lebanon), with Saber Ben Massoud (Tunisia) - Dual TV goggles allowing people to watch different programs on the same TV set 3. Mohammed Hijazi (Egypt), with Hashem Al Sada (Qatar) - physiotherapy equipment that will help patients with various disabilities in strengthening their injured limbs with minimal interference 4. Mohammed Orsod (Sudan), with Imad Al Harithy (Oman) - oil-testing device for cooking oil
The contest will now enter the business stage, in which the four aforementioned team leaders will choose three contestants from unselected projects to form teams of four.
The next weekly Prime-time episode, on Friday, June 19, the last one before the live finale, and the Daily shows, from Sundays to Thursdays, will showcase how the four teams will try to find the keys to the commercial success of their project.
