LONDON - Rushes Soho Shorts Film Festival, which this year takes place from 22nd to 31st July, today announced its official festival program for 2009. The non-profit event celebrates its eleventh year as one of Europe’s leading Short Film Festivals with an even greater choice of film, seminars and events.
One hundred and forty new films from eighteen countries will compete in the festivals eight categories: International, Newcomer, Short Film, Documentary, Animation, Long Form, Music Video and Broadcast Design.
Each of the categories include emerging and established talent such as Sadie Frost’s directorial debut, Danny Boyle’s end credit sequence for Slumdog Millionaire featuring actors such as Michael Bryne, Juliet Stevenson and Nick Nolte.
The official competition screenings will be held at The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), with tickets now on sale. BAFTA Short filmmakers market, seminars, panel discussions, guest screening programmes, receptions and exhibitions are to be held at the festival venues in and around Soho, London, all of which can be found at www.sohoshorts.com/.
The festival opens with the premiere of The Calling on the 22nd July with the awards ceremony bringing the curtain down on the festivals final evening, Thursday 30th July.
This years Rushes Soho Shorts Film Festival spokesperson will be Paul Andrew Williams, British film writer and director whose recent work includes The Cottage as well as London to Brighton which received critical acclaim.
