LONDON -
The newly established London office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has been given a major boost with an endorsement from household name Rentokil Initial (LSE: RTO). Andy Ransom, Rentokil Initial’s Executive Director for Corporate Development, has confirmed that the company will use Greenberg Traurig Maher LLP (www.gtlaw.com/Locations/London).
Greenberg Traurig, LLP announced its entry into the London market only last month and the new UK firm, operating as Greenberg Traurig Maher LLP, was established on 1 July, and moved to its City offices at 30 St. Mary Axe on 20 July. Greenberg Traurig, LLP has approximately 1,750 attorneys in the United states, Europe and Asia. Earlier this year, the firm was selected among the Top 3 for the International Law Firm of the Year Award by The Lawyer and as the 2007 USA Law Firm of the Year by Chambers and Partners.
Rentokil Initial is a major British-based business services group. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.
Rentokil Initial’s announcement was met was enthusiasm at the firm’s rapidly expanding office: “We are delighted that Rentokil Initial have confirmed that they will be asking us to provide them with legal services going forward — we see this as an endorsement of both the new London office of Greenberg Traurig Maher and the wider international firm and its standing,” said Paul Maher, Chairman of the London office.
The team at Rentokil Initial has worked with a number of the lawyers at Greenberg Traurig Maher LLP in the past, in particular the founding members Maher, Fiona Adams and Cate Sharp, but this announcement provides a welcome early indicator of the new firm’s ambitions.
“I have worked with Paul, Cate, Fiona and their team for many years now, as have a number of my Rentokil Initial colleagues. For me, they set the standard in client service,” commented Ransom. “Having built such a great degree of trust in their legal and commercial skills and their ability to get things done, it is a logical step for us to want to do business with them and their new firm Greenberg Traurig Maher. We look forward to working with them and their new colleagues as the London team builds.”
