LONDON - Permanent IT Roles in Higher Demand According to Research From The IT
Job Board
Permanent IT jobs are in more demand than contract positions, according
to research(1) carried out by The IT Job Board,
www.theitjobboard.co.uk.
When surveyed, 56 percent of respondents believed that there
was currently more calling for permanent roles, as opposed to 44 percent for
IT contract jobs.
61 percent of those surveyed were in contract work, and when
asked why they chose this type of role 40 percent advised that it was down to
the higher salaries. 39 percent were in permanent IT jobs, and 44 percent of
them stated that it was because of the security this work offers.
When asked which types of jobs were most likely to be
permanent, 94 percent of respondents believed that it would be IT director
and CIO roles. 75 percent stated that consultancy jobs were most likely to be
contract positions.
60 percent of those surveyed considered that there would be
risks in switching employment too frequently. When asked why they would
change jobs, 56 percent said for new challenges, and 51 percent stated it
would be for a higher salary.
Alex Farrell, managing director of The IT Job Board,
commented: “In a turbulent economic environment, many would believe contract
roles are in greater demand.
“It is positive to see the permanent IT jobs market remains
buoyant. Employers continue to advertise permanent and contract positions
and, despite the downturn, we are still seeing a great deal of movement in
the sector at all levels.”
