September 21st, 2009 AUGSBURG, Germany - Subsequent to the announcement of the EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed on 8 September 2009, the German surveillance lab in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg has confirmed the detection of GM linseed/flax variety FP967/CDC Triffid, which is unapproved in the EU. Additionally, there have been additional EU Rapid Alert announcements regarding the presence of FP967/CDC Triffid in food products distributed to Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium, and Switzerland.

June 17th, 2009 NEW DELHI - The ban on milk and milk product imports from China, which was to have expired June 24, has been extended by another six months, the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has said. June 3rd, 2009 China closes 4,000 milk collection stationsBEIJING — China has shut down nearly 4,000 milk collection stations for failing to meet safety standards, nine months after tainted milk products were blamed for sickening hundreds of thousands of babies and killing six children, the official Xinhua News Agency said Wednesday. The closures come after the government inspected all of the country's 20,393 milk collection stations since last November, Song Kungang, director-general of the China Dairy Industry Association, said, according to Xinhua.

February 28th, 2009 BEIJING - China's top legislature Saturday approved a new food safety law, promising stern action against makers of tainted food products in the wake of scandals that have fuelled demands for overhauling the country's ineffective food monitoring system. The Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, which approves policies and laws proposed by the ruling Communist Party, said the new law would help ensure food safety 'from the production line to dining table'.
