The Global Communication Association (GCA) and Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) jointly invite academicians, policy makers, corporate executives, representatives from NGOs and research scholars to contribute papers on “Global Village - Are we there yet?”. The papers will be presented during India Conference 2009, organized by The Global Communication Association in alliance with the Public Relations Council of India from November 26-27, 2009 at The Lalit Ashok Hotel in Bangalore. The conference aims to provide a platform for researchers and scholars from the world to discuss topical issues related to globalization, media and technology.
A 400-word abstract of the paper should be sent as an email attachment latest by October 10, 2009. Acceptance notification is now scheduled for October 10, 2009, the last date for full length paper submissions is October 15, 2009 and the last date for registration is October 20, 2009. The Conference inaugural will take place on November 26, 2009, the valedictory programme on November 27, 2009 and the satellite symposium at Manipal is on November 28, 2009. The conference focuses on “Global Village -Are we there yet?”. Advancement in digital communication has changed the world into a global village. The concept of a global village has generated a new image of technology in various spheres of life. Through this new age, communication it is considered to be one of the intellectual mediums with which to express one’s ideas and thoughts on environment, democracy, human rights, fashion etc.

Mariyanka, Conference Secretary, GCA India Conference 2009 and Director - Governing Council & Vice President - National Executive or Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) said: “GCA is a global platform focusing on the new age communication democracy. This year’s conference will aim at understanding the challenges we face, the current trends and chart the future growth path. Like in the Shanghai and Oman GCA conferences of 2007 and 2008, we have already received more than 50 paper submissions from professionals from different parts of the world and we are currently reviewing the same for acceptances.”
The conference covers topics like media technology, globalization, corporate social responsibility, trends in inter-cultural, international communication, media and politics, media convergence, the business and impact of global media to name a few.
Mr. M. B. Jayaram, Chief Mentor & Chairman Emeritus, Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) stated that this conference enables individuals from different regions to share their experiences on globalization and media and address various challenges and opportunities. He further stated that this year’s theme has been focused on the speedy development of media technology in the past two decades that acts as a catalyst to transform the whole world to the conceptual global village.
A separate satellite symposium at Manipal will follow the main conference on Nov 28th, where interested intellectuals would interact with the students and faculty members of Manipal Institute of Communication on the topic “Rethinking Media Manifesto for an Equitable World Order”. The conference will act as an umbrella which shelters the growing number of media advocacy campaigns aimed at promoting the idea of an integrated global community.
