By The Clarion Group Inc., PRNE
November 22nd, 2009
European and U.S. Defence Organizations and SAP to examine the impact of UID in Europe
AMSTERDAM, November 23 - Global defence leaders & suppliers will gather in Amsterdam, 2-3 December
to learn about improving operational efficiencies and reducing the cost of
inventory management at the UID (Unique Identification) Summit. Interested
professionals can go to www.uidsummit.com to register.
Mr. Rene Christiansen, recently retired Major from the Danish Armed
Forces, who will deliver the Keynote commented, "The objective of UID Summit
is to come together as a community and leave with a common set of strategies
that everyone who participates will benefit from."
Activities surrounding UID Standards in NATO Working Groups and member
nations has increased. Most notably last March, the Netherlands published a
mandatory UID clause requiring UID on contracts. Other European nations are
close behind with NATO exploring ways to help spread UID adoption.
Mr. Christiansen who will share his depth of knowledge surrounding global
asset tracking initiatives stated, "during my 25 years devoted to working on
global logistics and asset management, the need for UID has been a consistent
element that would immediately enhance these practices as it provides a basis
by which the global supply chain shares in multi-national logistics
coordination."
Mr. Christiansen has been a member of NATO's Asset Tracking Interservice
Working Group and continues as Chair to the Technical Panel that developed
STANAG 2290 (Edition 1), the NATO Agreement for the accepted structure of UID
which is ratified by 19 NATO nations and promulgated in January 2009.
The conference will feature representatives from the Netherlands Defence
Materiel Organization, Norwegian Defence Systems Management Division, U.S.
Department of Defense, NATO Allied Committee 135, NATO Codification Bureau,
NAMSA, AIM, Lockheed Martin, Savi Technology, & SAP.

UID - a methodology for marking items to facilitate asset management,
lifecycle management, and global supply chain capabilities - has been gaining
momentum in policy mandates globally that will affect defence suppliers,
military organizations, and governments. Attend to learn how to apply UID to
reduce costs and boost operational planning.
Sponsors of the UID Summit include AIM Global, AIM Germany, AIM
Netherlands, NATO Allied Committee 135 (AC135), and EuroData Council.
