BOZEN, Italy - Health Robotics today announced that it has signed an exclusive five-year strategic agreement with China National Pharmaceutical Foreign Trade Corporation (SINOPHARM Foreign Trade), a wholly owned People’s Republic of China Government (PRC) company, for its revolutionary CytoCare(TM) and i.v.STATION(TM) Robots. The exclusive distribution and support agreement enables SINOPHARM to achieve its goal of safely, accurately and cost-effectively automating the preparation of hazardous and non-hazardous IV Admixtures in China, including the Hong Kong and Macao regional districts.
“Health systems and government entities in China are determined to deliver the best health care and medication management to their people. They highly value unique and state-of-the-art technology such as Health Robotics’ products. The expansion of CytoCare and i.v.STATION into China will fulfil our Government’s health care strategic direction and improve the provision of medical services in our country. CytoCare and i.v.STATION robotics technology reduce IV medication errors, increase accuracy of patient IV doses, improve clinician safety, boost efficiency, and enhance pharmacy workflow. We are very proud to partner with Health Robotics, the recognized gold standard for IV Robotics in the world”, stated Wu Jian Feng, General Manager of SINOPHARM Foreign Trade’s Healthcare Division.
“This is the zenith of a great summer and an excellent year for Health Robotics despite the global economic crisis and sporadic former distributors’ incompetence, overselling, and disinformation campaign in America and Asia. To add SINOPHARM, the largest medical device and drug distribution company in China to our other strategic partners is a dream come true for Health Robotics. None of us at Bolzano could have imagined when we formed the company in mid-2006 and subsequently pioneered IV Robotics that we would reach this point so soon in the short life of our business enterprise. Now we have an amazing line-up of global partners with 90%+ world coverage of the IV therapy sector, thus upgrading the local support that our customers deserved in America and Asia, and that they can now achieve as a result of our marketing channel changes this year”, stated Werner Rainer, Health Robotics’ CEO.
In January 2009, China’s State Council passed a medical reform plan, which promised to spend 850 billion Yuan ($123 billion USD) by 2011 to provide universal medical services to the country’s 1.3 billion people. Authorities agreed to provide basic medical security within three years to all Chinese in urban and rural areas, improve the quality of medical services, and make medical services more accessible and affordable for ordinary people. Technological advancement was cited as vital to the plan’s success.
“Ever since I contacted Mr. DeViedma about one year ago in order to fulfill our Government’s strategic direction with Health Robotics, we have ascertained that CytoCare is the world’s first and only robotic system designed for the safe and sterile preparation of patient-specific Oncology hazardous IV Admixtures and that has been proven to work in a “live” hospital pharmacy environment. Now that we have a direct relationship with Health Robotics, we have finally been able to receive complete and accurate CytoCare product information, and will soon have access to much needed technical training, thus enabling SINOPHARM to now confidently market, install, and support all Health Robotics’ products in the People’s Republic of China”, stated Li Hai Bo, SINOPHARM’s Health Care Division Medical Equipment Manager.
