ISTANBUL - Showcasing Home Textile Trends for 2010 and Business Opportunities

EVTEKS 2009 will be held at the Istanbul CNR Expo Center between the 20 -
24th May. It offers visitors an opportunity to meet industry leaders, attend
“Trend Forums” presented by leading designers and enter a competition for the
“Up and Coming Designer Awards”.
The “Trend Forums” marked a natural extension to a successful partnership
between the Uludag Exporters’ Association (UIB) and the Istanbul Trade Fairs
(ITF) Inc. This year with the new addition of the “The Up and Coming
Designers Awards”, the exhibition gathers more momentum and promises an
exciting programme.
“In the current economical climate successful trade events are the ones
that embrace new media technologies that connect organisations, media and
consumers,” said Mr. Baris Can Erol - Istanbul Trade Fairs Deputy Managing
Director. “It is our role as the event organisers to leverage these new
technologies to reach more customers for our customers and position EVTEKS as
the worlds leading home textile exhibition within the next few years”.
Mr. Erol added “The Trend Forums proved to be a great success in 2008 by
highlighting the industry trends for 2009, this year EVTEKS 2009 has
increased the size of the Trend Area to accommodate expanding interest and
introduced the “Up and Coming Designer Awards” to encourage talented new
designers to attend the exhibition and offer them a chance to meet the
industry leaders and decision makers.”
Mr. Ibrahim Burkay President of (UIB) commented “EVTEKS 2009 will exhibit
business opportunities from Europe, the Middle East and Africa as well as the
Americas and Australasia, and as Istanbul is a cultural and business hub in
the region; visitors should not only consider this event for trade purposes
but also a chance to explore the European City of Culture for 2010.”
The Hosted Buyer Programme 2009 organised by the Under Secretariat for
Foreign Trade will be attended by Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada,

Norway, Panama, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, USA and Venezuela.
