WASHINGTON - Kalbian Hagerty LLP announced today that Elizabeth A. Andrews, formerly Senior Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Vice President, International Tax Planning, Marriott International, Inc. has joined the firm’s Washington, DC office.
Andrews will advise clients on tax planning, as well as general corporate and transactional matters including acquisition and disposition of foreign businesses, joint ventures with foreign partners, controlled foreign corporation and subpart F issues, transfer pricing, cross-border financing, and foreign tax credit utilization planning. Andrews has years of experience in organizing the operations of multi-national corporate groups to achieve lower global effective tax rates.
“Elizabeth’s experience as a senior corporate and tax executive and exceptional technical competence will be a tremendous asset to our clients,” said James R. Hagerty, founding partner and head of Kalbian Hagerty’s Tax Division. “We are very pleased to have her join us.”
As the Senior Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions, at Marriott International, Inc., Andrews was responsible for leading M&A due diligence teams, identifying potential acquisition targets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements related to potential M&A transactions, including confidentiality agreements, joint venture agreements and sale purchase agreements.
As Vice President, International Tax Planning, Corporate Tax Department, Marriott International, Inc., Andrews structured all global tax planning initiatives and oversaw international tax compliance. During her tenure, Andrews also restructured the cash flows related to Marriott’s and initiated all global tax planning initiatives and international operations, resulting in a significant reduction in Marriott’s effective tax rate. Andrews also led tax due diligence teams and executed value added tax (VAT) planning.
Andrews received her Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida College of Law and her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Florida.
