AUSTIN, Texas - New Feature Converts Scanned Documents to PDFs and Sends Them Directly
to FTP
Ringdale’s ModuLAN(R) DocuSender(TM), a cost-effective alternative to
integrated scan stations, has been enhanced to convert scanned paper
documents to industry standard Acrobat(R) PDF files and send the PDFs
directly to an FTP server. This powerful new Scan-to-FTP feature provides an
additional capability that enables paper intensive organizations to be more
productive using existing scanners and network infrastructure.
Best suited for almost any business scenario, DocuSender offers customers
Scan-to-E-mail and Scan-to-Fax document distribution without spending a
fortune on big-ticket workgroup devices. The new Scan-to-FTP feature enables
DocuSender to distribute PDFs to a file folder on a network that can be
accessed by more than one person at a time or for integration into an
existing document management system. DocuSender can also receive a fax and
put it in an FTP folder.
Easy to set up and use, DocuSender consists of a small solid-state unit
and a touch panel keypad that connect to an Ethernet network, a fax phone
line and any compatible USB-based scanner with automatic document feeder.
DocuSender can be used standalone or in a server-based environment providing
Single Sign On (SSO) user authentication at the scanner utilizing Ringdale’s
FollowMe(R) Secure Document Output Management technology and to match
documents to distinct identifiers such as client codes or barcodes when
attached to USB-connected readers. Up to two readers can connect to
DocuSender at one time.
Ringdale’s ModuLAN appliances are aimed at organizations’ “green
initiatives” in moving toward less paper consumption. DocuSender compliments
the ModuLAN FaxReceiver(TM), which converts incoming faxes into e-mails and
sends them directly to an inbox without using a PC.
The scanners that DocuSender currently supports are USB-connected with
automatic document feeders: Visioneer(R) 9750 PDF, 9650 and 9450; Visioneer
Patriot(R) series 780, 680, 470 and 430; Visioneer RoadWarrior (future
enhancement); Xerox(R) DocuMate(R) series 632, 520, 272 and 152; Fujitsu(R)
fi-5220C and fi-5015C; HP Scanjet 8270 and N8400 family and Panasonic
KV-S7065C; other makes will be supported in the future.
