BERLIN, Germany - Corning Cable Systems GmbH & Co KG, part of Corning Incorporated’s (NYSE:GLW) Telecommunications segment, will demonstrate its leadership and innovation in Plug and Play(TM) Universal Low-Loss Systems at the second 2009 Corning Customer Day at Berlin European Headquarters on Apr. 22.
Corning Cable Systems Plug & Play Universal Low-Loss Systems are preterminated optical fibre cabling systems designed to dramatically improve performance for the increasing demand for high speeds in the data centre, enterprise building backbone and fibre-to-the-desk applications.
The factory-terminated solutions provide improved system performance, ensure component compatibility and yield consistent quality. Plug & Play Universal Low-Loss Systems components are simple to configure and can be installed, connected and made operational in a fraction of the time when compared to using conventional, field-termination methods. Universal wiring provides a simple migration path between two-fibre and parallel applications, and with the use of modular components, enables fast and simple networking moves, adds and changes without concerns associated with special polarity-compensating components.
Plug & Play Universal Low-Loss Systems, consisting of modules, trunks and extender trunks, harnesses and jumpers, features MTP(R)-to-LC Connector and MTP-to-SC Connector modules and harnesses with a maximum loss of 0.5 dB. The system provides architecture design flexibility while providing additional loss margin.
Corning Cable Systems Plug & Play Universal Systems are 100G Ethernet ready, capable of reliably supporting transmission speeds up to 100G with laser-optimized Corning(R) InfiniCor(R) 50 micrometres multimode (OM3) fibre. The deployment of Plug & Play Universal Systems today will support the migration path to 100G Ethernet in accordance with the IEEE 802.3ba Standard.
