Badminton, angling, model railways, even Morris dancing … it’s amazing what people get up to in their spare time.
The trouble is that, despite the Internet, there isn’t really a UK-wide website where people can find out about local clubs - whether it be sports, hobbies or general interest… until now.
Clubbz.com is a lively new website set up by a group of work colleagues from West Yorkshire. The aim was simple: to create the most comprehensive website directory of clubs and societies in the UK so people can instantly find nearby clubs, search for events of interest and even view photos of the clubs in action.
The site looks great, is easy to find and is very simple to use whether you’re listing or searching for a club. There’s even a wizard feature so clubs can set up their own professional-looking web pages without the need for technical skills. You can even create a new community if yours isn’t listed. Best of all, it’s completely free - and there’s the chance to win prizes when you list your club!”
Clubbz.com has only been live for a couple of weeks but already over 1,000 clubs have joined from bell ringers to climbing clubs and brass bands plus all the clubs you’d expect to see like badminton, football and angling.
“The feedback we’ve been getting is brilliant,” says Rob Yorke. “Most clubs have already received hundreds of visitors to their Clubbz.com web pages. And because it’s free, it’s a great way to attract interest locally and nationally to your club; it’s cheaper and quicker than an ad in the local newsagent’s window!”
Obviously with Clubbz.com it’s a case of the ‘the more the merrier’. “So we’re urging clubs and societies across the UK to visit our website and join. Not only is it a fantastic way for clubs to attract new members, it’s also a great way to keep current members up to speed on meeting dates, activities and so on. It’s completely free, so there’s every reason to join!”
