Aon Corporation today announced the appointment of Peter Lieb as executive vice president and general counsel. Lieb, currently senior vice president, general counsel and secretary at NCR Corporation, will join Aon in mid-July.

Lieb, age 53, joined NCR in 2006, where he managed an international law department and provided counsel to the board of directors and senior executives on all legal matters affecting the $5 billion global technology company, including board governance, litigation, compliance, intellectual property, government affairs, securities regulation and mergers and acquisitions.
From 2003 to 2006, Lieb served as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Symbol Technologies. From 1997 to 2003 he served in several legal positions including Deputy General Counsel with International Paper Company.
Lieb’s professional experience also includes serving as a partner at Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue, a prosecutor for the United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York, an adjunct professor at Fordham Law School and as a law clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger and for Judge Amalya Kearse of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
He holds a BA, with honors, from Yale and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was managing editor of the University of Michigan Law Review.
