Allot Teams With Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) to Block Online Illegal Content
BOSTON, Massachusetts, November 23 - Allot Communications Ltd. (www.allot.com/) (NASDAQ: ALLT), a
leader in IP service optimization and revenue generation solutions based on
deep packet inspection (DPI), announced today the launch of Allot WebSafe
(www.allot.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=803&Itemid=88888996
), a network service designed to block online illegal and harmful
content. The solution is designed to protect subscribers by enabling fixed
and mobile broadband service providers to build a safer and more protected
internet environment. At the same time, it allows operators to comply with
emerging legislation surrounding online child sexual abuse images and other
illegal content. WebSafe is offered as an integrated service within Allot
Service Gateway (
www.allot.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=563&Itemid=88888916
). It is also offered as a solution with other Allot platforms
(www.allot.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=45&Itemid=88888966
).
WebSafe uses URL filtering technology at the network level without
impacting the user experience. This highly accurate technology is based on
blacklists containing specific web pages, which can be automatically or
manually updated to the solution, with no network downtime. WebSafe, with its
opt-in/opt-out functionality can receive updates from external sources such
as regulatory bodies or law enforcement agencies. In order to enhance the
WebSafe solution, Allot has become a member of the Internet Watch Foundation
(www.iwf.org.uk/) (IWF), the UK's self-regulatory body for combating
child sexual abuse images that provides data on online illegal content. The
solution offers automatic updates of the IWF list, which happens twice daily.
"Combating child sexual abuse images on the internet is a global
challenge. The websites are dynamic; often hopping hosting provider and
country every few days and the internet industry's role in helping to disrupt
them is crucial", said Peter Robbins OBE, QPM, Chief Executive of the IWF.
"We work with national and international partners and a diverse range of
members companies to make internet a safer place for everyone. This
partnership is about stopping networks being abused whilst protecting
internet users from the results of that abuse."
"WebSafe is the most recent value-added network service to be offered as
part of the Service Gateway portfolio," noted Andrei Elefant, Allot's Vice
President of Marketing and Product Management. "Allot is committed to
creating solutions that appeal to both our customers and our customers'
customers. WebSafe fulfills these criteria and allows mobile and fixed
operators to stand out from the crowd by providing what their subscribers
want - a safer and cleaner web environment."
Allot Service Gateway Sigma (

(SG-Sigma) has 40Gbps of throughput and is the only DPI-based Service Gateway
platform designed to meet current and future service provider requirements.
It facilitates the fast and easy introduction of new value-added network and
subscriber services, including WebSafe, MediaSwift (
