- ComponentOne LiveLinq Makes LINQ Faster and Supports Live Views
With the release of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, a new data access technology, LINQ, was added to the toolbox of Visual Studio developers. LINQ, or Language Integrated Query, is a set of features in the .NET Framework 3.5 used for writing structured type-safe queries over local object collections and remote data sources.

True to their 22-year history of developing cutting-edge components, ComponentOne, a leading component vendor in the Microsoft Visual Studio Industry Partner program today, released a set of extensions to LINQ named ComponentOne LiveLinq.
ComponentOne’s Product Manager, Chris Meredith, explained that ComponentOne LiveLinq adds two important capabilities to standard LINQ queries. “We have developed a product that any LINQ user may use without having to learn a new technology,” said Meredith. “LiveLinq uses indexing and other optimizations to speed up LINQ queries with typical gains being up to 100 times faster. It also supports live views, which keeps query results up to date with respect to the base data.”
“LINQ was created to bridge the gap between the world of objects and the world of data,” said Matt Carter, Group Product Manager at Microsoft Corporation. “Products like LiveLinq will benefit Visual Studio 2008 customers by providing new data-binding scenarios that will enhance the user experience.”
The company initially announced LiveLinq in the first quarter of 2009 as a community technology preview (CTP). Now it has been released to general availability and is available for purchase. ComponentOne has live samples on their Web site at www.componentone.com which will reinforce what a critical tool this is for all aspects of LINQ and those who use it.
