June 22nd, 2009 NEW DELHI - Delhi Police on Monday filed a 620-page chargesheet on a local court against five persons who were arrested for alleged connection with the murder of TV journalist Soumya Viswanathan. The 26-year-old journalist was shot dead in Delhi on September 30, 2008 when she was driving from her Jhandewalan office to her Vasant Kunj residence.

May 12th, 2009 PATNA - Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MP Surajbhan Singh has been booked for the killing of a man who was the main witness of a murder for which the Bihar politician was sentenced to life imprisonment, police said Tuesday. Nago Singh and his grandson were shot dead by unidentified people near Barauni in Begusarai district, about 126 km from here, Sunday night.

April 29th, 2009 DHAKA - Bangladesh's Awami League-led alliance government will bring back home from abroad the fugitive killers of the country's founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to face a court verdict, a junior minister said Wednesday. 'To bring the killers back home, the government will also sign extradition deals with countries which do not have such agreements with Bangladesh,' State Minister for Home Affairs Tanjim Ahmed Sohel Taj told reporters.

Kuldeep Kaur, 32, was going to the gurudwara in Lehli village near Mahilpur town, 20 km from here, when she was attacked.

Investigation revealed that Svetlana, 31, bit her son around 50 times and struck him with over 80 blows to the head and neck.

February 10th, 2009 LUCKNOW - Union Micro, Small and Medium Industries Minister Mahavir Prasad has been booked for a murder related to a land dispute in January 2008 in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district, police here said Wednesday. Prasad, a Congress leader, and two others, Gauri Shanker and Rajesh Singh, were Tuesday night charged with killing a villager in Gorakhpur district's Gagha area, about 270 km from here, allegedly over a property dispute, a police official said.

January 15th, 2009 KOLKATA - Four people, including a Congress activist, have been arrested in a West Bengal town for their alleged involvement in the murder of a beauty parlour owner, an official said Friday. Anjali Goswami, who ran the parlour at Suri town in Birbhum district, 200 km from here, was found murdered Nov 11 last year in a forest near a power station in the same district.

January 14th, 2009 BHOPAL - Two police constables accused of beating a tribal to death in Madhya Pradesh have been suspended and booked for murder, the police said Thursday. 'The incident occurred late Wednesday evening in Jhabua town when the constables, Kartar Singh and Ishwarlal, who were allegedly in an inebriated state, picked up a fight with a tribal Kallu Thanwaria Medha, 40, who too was under influence of alcohol and beat him till he fell unconscious.
