Woman delivers baby in train, names Lalu
A woman named her newborn baby boy after former railway minister Lalu Prasad moments after she delivered her baby on a running train, officials said today.
Officials said Gayatri Devi travelling on a sleeper coach of an express train running between Jammu and Guwahati suddenly developed labour pain and delivered a baby last evening when the train reached Bihar.
Officials said the train was stopped for about half-an-hour at Desari station on the Hajipur-Bachabar rail section as the co-passengers helped her in smooth delivery of the baby.
“The co-passengers helped the women in safe delivery of the child and later admitted her to a local private clinic”, a railway official B Ram said today.
The woman who also hailed from Lalu Prasad’s the home LS constituency of Saran has named her baby as Lalu in memory of former railway minister’s contributions to the railways.
“I have named my baby as Lalu”, the woman told reporters at the site.
