Wis. man pleads to kidnappings, sexual assaults

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. — A Wisconsin man has pleaded no contest to charges he kidnapped and sexually assaulted two young men who were held captive in chains at his home.

A judge in Wisconsin Rapids accepted a plea deal Monday that convicted Edward Lanphear of four felonies that carry terms of up to 200 years in prison.

Nine other felony charges were dropped as part of the plea deal.

The 47-year-old man from the Wisconsin Rapids area was charged in the abduction of a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old man last summer.

Lanphear was arrested after one man escaped.
