CHANDIGARH - In a bid to commemorate the spirit of Chandigarh, the local administration in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising a campaign called “Wah! Chandigarh - Celebrating the Spirit of Chandigarh”.

The three-month campaign will start Aug 13 and include an assortment of activities that will involve almost every resident.

“This campaign is a salute to Chandigarh’s unflagging enterprising spirit and mystically peaceful and all embracing environs that attract people from all across the world,” Chandigarh Home-cum-Cultural Secretary Ram Niwas said here Wednesday.

“Chandigarh has taken a huge leap forward in its uniqueness that really needs to be celebrated through such events. Its open hand emblem conveys the social message of peace, harmony and unity in diversity that is ‘open to give and open to receive’,” he added.

The campaign would include felicitation of eminent personalities who have contributed towards building brand Chandigarh, various events across the city, debates, discussions and conferences, competitions like essays writing, poetry recitation and poster making.

“Our aim is to provoke and cultivate ideas that could further transform Chandigarh into one of the best cities in the world. Such ideas would help us in terms of improving the quality of life, social infrastructure and green and clean environment of the city,” said Partap Aggarwal, chairman of CII Chandigarh council.

“There would be a quick survey on how the residents view Chandigarh, how they see it as of now, past changes the city has undergone, its high points and how they wish to see the city in future,” he said.
