Biden lays flowers at ground zero reflecting pool

NEW YORK — Vice President Joseph Biden has laid flowers in a reflecting pool at ground zero before a ceremony to mark the eighth anniversary of Sept. 11.

Biden and his wife, Jill, arrived on the west side of the New York City site shortly before the ceremony at a nearby park.

They then joined some family members to lay flowers in one of the reflecting pools of the memorials.

The ceremony at the edge of the World Trade Center site overlooks ongoing construction. A giant crane hovers over a park where victims’ names are to be read.

Families carrying photos of lost loved ones are streaming into the plaza to observe the anniversary of the 2001 attack.
