NEW DELHI - Couture czar J.J. Valaya will showcase his ‘kingdom of love’ collection complete with tailored jackets, sensual jodhpurs and crisp tops in vibrant colours during the grand finale of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) here March 22.
‘The (fashion week) grand finale has always set new benchmarks in creativity and this year, Valaya will take the same tradition forward and create magic on the ramp in his signature style,’ WIFW divisional chief executive Atul Chand announced here Thursday.
The collection will be an extension of his signature line - Valaya’s kingdom.
According to Valaya, the line celebrates optimism, colour and energy that seems mired in the disturbed world of today.
‘If you look around, there is just depression, negativity and violence and my line will showcase the bright side of life,’ Valaya told IANS.
‘The collection should hopefully put across the sentiment that I personally believe in…that life is all about positivity and progression,’ he added.
Why did you decide this theme?
‘I was thinking about how fickle mortals today are, how easily they collapse under pressure. There is decrease in the capacity to fight back for what is rightfully theirs,’ he said.
‘The collection talks about happiness and doing what you believe in,’ he added.
The collection has a vibrant colour palette with tailored jackets, crisp tops with detailed skirts crafted out of the finest prints and fabrics like lycra, velvet and silk.
Valaya did not give out details about the collection and said, ‘Just wait and watch. It is going to be a nomadic extravaganza with royal treatment.’
Speaking on the occasion, WIFW organiser Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) president Sunil Sethi, said: ‘Valya is a perfect example of excellence in design and clothing construction. We are proud to have him present the grand finale this time. His show will be a completely colourful affair.’
The collection will later be retailed from Wills Lifestyle stores across the country, he added.
