Panel: UofIll. trustees should submit resignations

CHICAGO — A panel is recommending that all University of Illinois trustees voluntarily submit their resignations amid an investigation into the use of political clout to get underqualified students into the school.

In the Illinois Admissions Review Commission’s final report released Thursday, the panel says Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn should decide what resignations to accept.

The commission was created after revelations the university maintained a list of politically connected applicants and admitted some over better-qualified candidates. Quinn has said he’ll move quickly on any recommendations.

Two trustees have quit. Another one, Edward McMillan, said Thursday he’s submitted his resignation.
