Two terrorists killed in Kashmir gunfight

October 7th, 2009 SRINAGAR - Three separatist guerrillas were killed early Wednesday by security forces in a forested area of Jammu and Kashmir's north Kupwara district. The operation against the guerrillas in the Zachaldara forest area, about 95 km from here, continued, a defence spokesperson said.

September 28th, 2009 SRINAGAR - Three separatist guerrillas and a local resident were killed in south Kashmir's Pulwama district in a gunfight between security forces and the guerrillas Monday, an official said. Three terrorists including two Pakistanis and a local terrorist were killed in an encounter between the security forces and the terrorists in Amlar (Tral) village of Pulwama district today, a senior police officer told IANS here.

September 23rd, 2009 SRINAGAR - Eight people including an army major, a navy commando, two security personnel and four militants were killed during the 24 hours till Wednesday evening in two gunfights between the security forces and the guerrillas in north Kashmir, officials said. A major of the Rashtriya Rifles, Suresh Suri, and a security personnel were killed in Banyari area of Bandipora district Wednesday in a nearly-24-hour gunfight in which two guerrillas were also killed.

September 23rd, 2009 SRINAGAR - Two Pakistani terrorists and two Indian security personnel were killed in a 24-hour gun battle in a north Kashmir village that ended Wednesday evening, an official said. Police identified the terrorists as Pasha and Musa, both working with Hizbul Mujahideen.

August 16th, 2009 SRINAGAR - A separatist guerrilla was killed in a gunfight with security forces in south Kashmir Pulwama district Sunday, police said. A joint patrol team of army troops and Special Operations Group of the state police challenged a group of militants in Lasipora village, 50 km from here, a police officer said.

August 5th, 2009 SRINAGAR - Six separatist guerrillas were killed in three different gunbattles with security forces in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesperson said here Wednesday. An infiltration bid across the line of control (LoC) in the Tangdhar area was foiled early Wednesday by army personnel, who killed two militants.

August 3rd, 2009 SRINAGAR - Four separatist guerrillas and a soldier have been killed in the three-day north Kashmir gunfight that ended here early Monday. "Four terrorists have been killed in the gunfight with the security forces in the Nowgam sector of the line of control in Handwara district," a defence spokesman told IANS here.

June 15th, 2009 SRINAGAR - Two suspected guerrillas were killed in a gunfight with the Indian Army while a policeman was shot dead in a militant ambush in Kashmir, police said Monday. A civilian car was attacked by suspected militants near the main bus stand at Sopore, 50 km from here, in north Kashmir's Baramulla district Monday evening.

April 28th, 2009 JAMMU - A top guerrilla of the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit was killed Tuesday in a forest gunfight with the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir, a military spokesman said. Hizbul Mujahideen district commander Mohammed Yousuf was killed in Dera Talab forest area in Kishtwar district, about 230 km northeast of Jammu, the spokesman said.

April 20th, 2009 SRINAGAR - A separatist guerrilla and a trooper have been killed in clashes in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, an army spokesperson said here Tuesday. Acting on specific information about the presence of guerrillas, troops of the Rashtriya Rifles started searches in Baramulla's Tangmulla forests Monday evening, spokesperson of the army's 15 Corps, Col Uma Maheshwar, told IANS.

April 18th, 2009 JAMMU - Two guerrillas of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit and a woman associate were killed Saturday in a gunbattle between the militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. The gunbattle erupted after the state police and the Indian Army launched a joint search operation following inputs that two militants were hiding in Baggla area in the mountainous Doda district, about 190 km from here.

April 2nd, 2009 JAMMU - Three guerrillas believed to be of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror outfit were killed Thursday in a gunfight with security forces in a mountainous area of Jammu and Kashmir, a police officer said. The security forces were tipped off about the presence of a group of militants in Srawa area of mountainous Kishtwar district, around 220 km from here.
