Two arrested with heroin in Uttar Pradesh

September 16th, 2009 LUCKNOW - A bandit wanted in over a dozen criminal cases, including murder, was Wednesday arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot district, police said. Chukki Yadav, who carried a reward of Rs.35,000 for his capture, was caught by the Special Task Force after a shootout.

September 14th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Three members of a drug peddlers' gang were arrested from the national capital with 2 kg of heroin, police said Monday. A team from Delhi Police's Narcotics Cell arrested the three men Sunday from Wazirabad area in north Delhi, a police officer said.

July 10th, 2009 LUCKNOW - Five youths from Chandigarh involved with an inter-state auto lifting racket were arrested after a brief shootout in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district, police said Friday. "The five, who are in the 18-20 age group, were arrested Thursday night from a hideout in the Saklapuri town in Saharanpur," police inspector Hukum Singh told IANS over the telephone.

June 9th, 2009 NOIDA - Police in this suburb of the national capital Tuesday arrested three people for allegedly smuggling and selling drugs and seized nearly one kg of heroin from them. Virendra Kumar, Nawab and Naeem Alam were arrested from Labour Chowk near Khoda under the Sector 58 police station while they were about to deliver the drugs to a client, police said, adding one kg of heroin, valued at Rs.2 crores (Rs.20 million) in the international market, was recovered from them.
