September 10th, 2009 Truck bomb kills at least 18 in northern IraqBAGHDAD — Officials say a truck bomb has exploded in a village in northern Iraq, killing at least 18 people and injuring 19 others. A police officer and a health official in Mosul say the bomb went off before dawn Thursday about 35 miles (55 kilometers) southeast of the city in the village of Wardek.

July 9th, 2009 KABUL — An Interior Ministry spokesman says the massive blast in central Afghanistan has killed 25 people, including 21 civilians and four policemen. Zemerai Bashary says the powerful blast also destroyed nearby shops lining the road in the central Logar province.

June 29th, 2009 BAGHDAD - At least seven people were killed when a suicide bomber detonated explosives packed in his car in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul Monday, police said. The bomber, five policemen and a civilian bystander were among those killed in the blast as a police patrol passed through the predominantly Christian district of Bartalah, some 30 kilometres east of Mosul, police told the German Press Agency dpa.

March 23rd, 2009 KABUL - Eight policemen were killed Monday in an attack by Taliban rebels in Afghanistan's Kandahar province, a police officer said. 'The Taliban insurgents attacked a police patrol in Spin Boldak town, killing eight policemen and wounding another,' Sahib Jan, commander of the Highway Police in the region, told Xinhua.
