On Thursday afternoon, the depression was centered about 385 miles (620 kilometers) south-southeast of Acapulco, on the southern tip of the Baja peninsula.

July 7th, 2009 Tropical Storm Blanca forms off western MexicoMEXICO CITY — Tropical Storm Blanca formed Monday off western Mexico as the second named storm of the Pacific season, but forecasters predicted it would follow a course far away from land. Blanca was located about 410 miles (660 kilometers) south of the tip of the Baja California Peninsula on Monday night, and was heading west-northwest at 10 mph (16 kph), the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.

June 22nd, 2009 Tropical Storm Andres forms in Pacific off MexicoMIAMI — Forecasters say Tropical Storm Andres off the southwestern coast of Mexico is strengthening and could become a hurricane in the next day or two. It's still not clear how close the storm will come to making landfall, but a tropical storm watch was issued from Zihuatanejo northward to Manzanillo and heavy rains were expected along the coast.
