Troops shifted from Kashmir Valley to Doda

October 10th, 2009 JAMMU - A Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander was killed in a gun battle with security forces in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Saturday, police said. Junaid alias Liaqat Ali was shot dead in Kastigarh area of Doda, about 200 km north-east of Jammu.

September 19th, 2009 JAMMU - A senior commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed in a gun battle with security forces in the mountainous district of Doda in Jammu and Kashmir Saturday, authorities said. Noor Mohammad aka Chhota Hamza was killed in the gun battle in Dessa forests in Doda, 180 km north-east of Jammu.

September 7th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 25 people were killed and over 20 others injured when a bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into the Chenab river in the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Monday, police said. Twenty passengers were killed on the spot and five of the injured succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

September 7th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 18 passengers died and 23 seriously injured, as the bus they were travelling by fell down into a 350-feet deep gorge on Doda-Jammu Highway in Jammu and Kashmir' Doda District on Monday morning. The bus (JK 02 D 7339), carrying at least 35 people, was on its way to Jammu from Doda when it fell into the gorge.

September 7th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 15 people were killed and many others were missing when a bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into river Chenab in the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Monday afternoon, officials said. According to reports reaching here, the bus was on its way to Jammu from Doda when it skidded off the road and rolled down into the Chenab river at Assar, about 150 km north-east of Jammu.

The bus was on its way to Jammu from Doda when it skidded off the road and rolled down into the Chenab river at Assar, about 150 km north-east of Jammu, around 1 p.m.

August 18th, 2009 JAMMU - One person was killed when militants believed to be from the Lashkar-e-Taiba ambushed a police patrol in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district early Tuesday, police said. Police said militants opened fire on the police team in Marmat, more than 8,000 feet above sea level, in Doda, about 200 km from here.

April 18th, 2009 JAMMU - Two militants of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in a gunbattle with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir Saturday morning, police said. The two LeT militants were active in the forested area of Bhart in Doda district and were responsible for many killings and abductions, police said.

February 25th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 38 people were killed and 19 injured when the bus they were travelling in skidded off the road in the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday morning, police said. The accident took place when the driver lost control of the bus while taking a sharp turn on the road.

The accident took place when the bus skidded off the road and fell into Neeru nullah, a tributary of Chenab river at Pul Doda in Doda district, about 170 km north-east of Jammu, the state's winter capital.

January 18th, 2009 JAMMU - A suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was arrested from the mountainous district of Doda in Jammu and Kashmir Monday, the police said. A police team, on a specific input, conducted search operations in a village near Bhaderwah town of Doda, about 180 km northeast of Jammu, and arrested Imtiaz Ahmed.
