Three terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir

October 10th, 2009 SRINAGAR - Three terrorists who tried to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan were killed Saturday along the Line of Control (LoC), police here said. A police officer said that soldiers spotted a group of heavily-armed men in Gurez sector of LoC, which divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

October 9th, 2009 JAMMU - Security forces Friday evening achieved a major success when they shot dead two dreaded terrorists in a gun battle in Banihal in Jammu and Kashmir. On specific information about movement of a group of terrorists at Neel Zaradi area of Banihal, troops of 12 Rashtriya Rifles and police launched a joint search operation in the area and cordoned it.

October 6th, 2009 JAMMU - President Pratibha Patil will visit forward positions of the Indian Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir Friday, an official said Tuesday. "She is visiting (LoC) to boost the morale of the soldiers guarding the most challenging terrain," an army official told IANS.

September 7th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 15 people were killed and many others were missing when a bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into river Chenab in the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Monday afternoon, officials said. According to reports reaching here, the bus was on its way to Jammu from Doda when it skidded off the road and rolled down into the Chenab river at Assar, about 150 km north-east of Jammu.

August 15th, 2009 JAMMU - Four terrorists have been killed in a gun battle with the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir, a defence official said Saturday. The army raided the militants' hideout in the forested area of Mahore, 175 km from here, Thursday.

June 22nd, 2009 JAMMU - Three terrorists were killed in a day-long fierce gun-battle in Gulabgarh area in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district Monday, police said. The three militants belonged to Hizb-ul-Mujahadeen, a police spokesman said.

June 5th, 2009 JAMMU - Three militants, suspected to be members of the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit, were killed in a gun battle with security forces in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir early Friday, officials said. The terrorists were killed in a joint operation by the police and army in Manthala forest, about 200 km from here.

June 5th, 2009 JAMMU - Three militants, including a top commander of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terror outfit, have been killed in a gun battle with security forces in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir early Friday, police said. The terrorists were killed in a joint operation by police and army in Manthala forest, about 200 km from here.

May 8th, 2009 JAMMU - Three people, including a woman, were killed by suspected militants in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said Friday. A group of four terrorists barged into the house of Ahmad Malik at Badara in Mahore area around 10.30 p.m.

May 4th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 20 people were killed and 10 injured when the mini bus they were travelling in fell into the Chenab river in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir Monday morning, police said. The accident occurred at about 9 a.m.

March 28th, 2009 JAMMU - Army troops Saturday recovered a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) in a forest area of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said. The three-kg bomb was recovered in jungles of Thanna Mandi in Rajouri district, about 200 km northwest of Jammu, said a defence spokesman.

January 12th, 2009 JAMMU - Two terrorists and two policemen were killed in a gunbattle in a border district of Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday, the police said. The shootout erupted in the evening in the Kallila forests of Rajouri district, about 160 km north of Jammu, and the gunbattle was still on.

January 1st, 2009 JAMMU - Four militants were killed in a gunbattle with soldiers in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir Friday, an army official said. 'The army has shot dead four militants in the operation in Pati Tar's mountainous forest area in Mendhar.

December 31st, 2008 JAMMU - Two Indian Army soldiers were killed in a shootout with suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir Thursday, defence sources said. The gun battle, which was still on, erupted in the evening after the army laid a cordon around Pati Tar, a forested area in Mendhar in the border district of Poonch, on information that a group of LeT terrorists was hiding there, the sources said.

December 22nd, 2008 JAMMU - Three terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) have been arrested in Jammu. One of them is a Pakistani army regular, police said here Tuesday.
