Three infiltrators killed in Kashmir

October 1st, 2009 JAMMU - Border Security Force (BSF) troopers shot dead a suspected infiltrator along the international border in Ranbirsinghpora sector of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said Friday. The man was killed in a gunfight between the BSF troopers and suspected infiltrators near Mangla post in Ranbirsinghpora sector, about 30 km west of Jammu, late Thursday.

September 8th, 2009 JAMMU - An Indian Army major and two militants were killed in fighting near the border with Pakistan in the mountainous Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said Wednesday. The army sources said that a group of militants were trying to sneak into the Indian side in the Sonagali area of Poonch district Tuesday night, some 220 km northwest of Jammu.

September 6th, 2009 JAMMU - Security forces have eliminated 15 top militant commanders of various outfits in recent months, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Kuldeep Khoda said here Sunday. Those killed include Abu Jindal and Abu Hamza, he told mediapersons after a function.

September 1st, 2009 SRINAGAR - Five guerrillas attempting to cross over from Pakistan were killed early Wednesday when Indian Army soldiers foiled their infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir's Gurez sector, officials here said. A group of infiltrators were spotted by the alert soldiers guarding the Line of Control (LoC), which divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan, in Gurez sector of north Kashmir's Bandipore district.

August 16th, 2009 SRINAGAR - A separatist guerrilla was killed in a gunfight with security forces in south Kashmir Pulwama district Sunday, police said. A joint patrol team of army troops and Special Operations Group of the state police challenged a group of militants in Lasipora village, 50 km from here, a police officer said.

August 5th, 2009 SRINAGAR - Security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir killed nine militants including a Hizbul Mujahideen commander till Wednesday evening during six separate encounters which started near Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday. Five infiltrating militants were killed in four separate encounters with security forces in Kashmir valley, while a self-styled section commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and an infiltrator were killed in Jammu region since last evening, said a Defence spokesman in Srinagar on Wednesday.

July 27th, 2009 SRINAGAR - Three militants were killed in north Kashmir's Kupwara district Monday when the army foiled an infiltration bid across the Line of Control (LoC), officials said. "Three intruding terrorists were killed in the Tangdhar sector of the LoC and the army foiled the infiltration bid," a defence spokesman said here.

July 21st, 2009 SRINAGAR - A police officer was killed and three of his junior colleagues were injured when suspected militants fired a rifle grenade at a police camp in a south Kashmir village Tuesday, an official said. Guerrillas fired one grenade at the camp of the Special Operation Group (SOG) of police at Imam Sahib village in south Kashmir Shopian district, around 60 km from here.

May 22nd, 2009 SRINAGAR - Three militants were killed Friday when army troops foiled an infiltration bid in the Tangdhar sector at the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir, officials said. Troops detected and challenged a group of infiltrators at the LoC in Kupwara district as soon as they crossed the border in the Tangdhar sector, a defence spokesman said here.

March 15th, 2009 SRINAGAR - Two guerrillas of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit were killed Saturday in a gun battle with security forces in a forested area of Jammu and Kashmir, police said. The fight erupted after troops of 21 Rashtriya Rifles and the police launched a search operation in the Bawan forest area in Handwara in north Kashmir, around 100 km from here.
