September 27th, 2009 BHOPAL - Four suspected Maoists who had allegedly crossed into Madhya Pradesh from Chhattisgarh have been detained in Shahdol district, police said Sunday. The four - Ramnath, Lalsai, Roopsai and Sunao, all of them Gond tribals aged 25-30 - had sneaked in from Narayanpur district in Chhattisgarh, a police official said.

September 24th, 2009 BHOPAL - Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has urged the centre to include the state among those where the Basmati rice variety is grown, officials said here Thursday. In a letter written to union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar Wednesday, Chouhan requested him to direct the Export Development Authority to include Madhya Pradesh in the areas producing Basmati rice.

September 20th, 2009 LUCKNOW/BHOPAL - The Uttar Pradesh government Sunday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the mysterious death of Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer Madan Gopal Rusia, whose body was found on a railway track some distance from Agra railway station Sep 10. Roosia was the chief executive officer of the Bhopal Development Authority.

September 20th, 2009 ALLAHABAD - Three men were arrested with huge quantity of explosives from Shankergarh area of the Allahabad district Sunday, police said. About 400 kg of ammonium nitrate, over 400 detonators and fuse wires were seized from the possession of the three men in Shankergarh, which is on the border with Madhya Pradesh.

September 4th, 2009 BHOPAL - Professors in Madhya Pradesh are marking Teachers Day in a different way this Saturday -- they have started an indefinite strike demanding higher pay. The joint front of government college teachers, Shasakiya Mahavidyalayin Shikshak Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti, said the teachers went on an indefinite strike after the state government failed to keep its promise of implementing the revised pay scale from Sep 4.

September 3rd, 2009 BHOPAL - Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Thursday expressed profound grief over the untimely demise of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S.Rajashekhar Reddy, who was killed in a helicopter crash Wednesday. The country, including Andhra Pradesh, has lost an able administrator and a charismatic politician, Chouhan said in his message.

April 18th, 2009 BHOPAL - Eleven people including six women and three children were killed and five were injured after a jeep carrying them collided with a truck in Madhya Pradesh Saturday, police said. The jeep collided with the truck coming from the opposite side on the Ujjain-Agar road, about 225 km from here.

February 10th, 2009 BHOPAL - Candidates from the entire country would now be eligible to appear for examinations conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Public service Commission (MPPSC) or other bodies for state government jobs, an official source said Wednesday. The state cabinet Tuesday decided that passing higher secondary or graduation from Madhya Pradesh would not be a criteria for recruitment through the MPPSC.
