September 27th, 2009 RANCHI - Pradeep Mahto, the brother of former Jharkhand deputy chief minister Sudhir Mahto, has committed suicide in Jamshedpur city, police said Sunday. According to police, Pradeep Mahto, 41, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in the drawing room of his home.

August 12th, 2009 RANCHI - Two cops were shot dead by Maoist rebels in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, police said Wednesday. According to the police, the cops from Dhanbad district, which is around 260 km from Ranchi, went to the local market Tuesday night.

July 31st, 2009 RANCHI - A railway contractor was shot dead in Ranchi, police said Friday. Santosh Kumar Singh was gunned down by two unidentified criminals wearing black helmets Thursday night when he was in a shop.

July 14th, 2009 RANCHI - Unidentified criminals shot dead a railway contractor in Jharkhand's Bokaro city Tuesday morning, police said. Pankaj Singh was shot dead when he stepped out of his house in Cooperative Colony for a morning walk.

Raju Dhanuka, a coal trader and contractor, was shot dead by unidentified criminals at Panchwati Plaza here March 14.
