Three arrested for killing of 10 policemen in Bihar

September 15th, 2009 PATNA - Four people were arrested with Rs.75,000 in counterfeit currency notes in Bihar, police said Tuesday. A police officer said two men -- Surendra Thakur and Rambabu Bhagat -- were nabbed from Beur More in state capital Patna Monday evening with Rs.65,000 in fake notes.

August 15th, 2009 PATNA - Two people have been arrested for allegedly killing a rare black deer in Kaimur district of Bihar, police said Saturday. A police officer said Sattar Mian and Mohammad Abdul shot dead the animal in a village.

August 7th, 2009 PALIGANJ - The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested seven Maoists including the area commander of banned outfit Communist Party of India (Maoists) from Bihar's Paliganj region late on Thursday. Acting on a tip-off, the STF team, assisted by policemen, had raided a school in Badauli village and arrested the seven Maoists.

April 24th, 2009 MUZAFFARPUR - Five policemen were killed when Maoists triggered a landmine blast on a vehicle carrying a police patrolling party in Bihar's Muzaffarpur District late on Thursday. Five policemen died on the spot while the vehicle driver was reported as seriously injured.

March 31st, 2009 PATNA - An independent legislator in Bihar was arrested Tuesday on charges of making an inflammatory speech at an election meeting, police said. Pradeep Joshi, leader of the Rashtriya Hindu Seva Dal, is an assembly member from Dhri-on-Sone constituency of Rohtas district.

March 25th, 2009 PATNA - Bahujan Samaj Party's (BJP) Lok Sabha candidate Arjun Ravidas was Wednesday arrested in connection with the killing of 10 policemen in Bihar's Nawada district last month. Ravidas, the BSP's candidate in the Jamui Lok Sabha seat, was arrested when he reached the district administration office to collect nomination forms, said an official.

March 25th, 2009 PATNA - The Bahujan Samaj Party's (BJP) Lok Sabha candidate Arjun Ravidas was Wednesday arrested in connection with the killing of 10 policemen in Bihar's Nawada district last month. Ravidas, the BSP's candidate in the Jamui Lok Sabha seat, was arrested when he reached the district administration office in Jamui, about 200 km from here, to collect posters and nomination forms, said an official.

February 10th, 2009 PATNA - Two days after 10 policemen were killed in an ambush by suspected Maoists in a remote Bihar village, a Bihar policemen's union Wednesday has called for a 'concrete action plan' to fight the rebels. January 23rd, 2009 FALLUJAH - A suicide car bomber targeted a police checkpoint in western Iraq Saturday, killing at least five policemen, the police said. 'A suicide bomber drove his explosives-laden car before midday into a police checkpoint in the town of Garma, 15 km northeast of Fallujah city,' a police source said.

December 25th, 2008 PATNA - More policemen were killed than Maoist rebels in over 100 gun battles in Bihar in the last five years, police officers said here Friday. A police officer in the state home department said that in the last five years, there had been 130 shoot-outs in Bihar between the police and the activists of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), in which 76 policemen and 63 rebels were killed.
