Tata DoCoMo starts GSM service in Chennai, Tamil Nadu circles

October 8th, 2009 KOLKATA - Telecom major Tata Teleservices and Japan-based Docomo are planning to jointly set up a research and development facility in India, a top official said Thursday. "The company (Docomo) is interested in developing certain amount of value-added services which will be available on the Tata-Docomo GSM network here," Tata Teleservices managing director Anil Sardana told reporters at the launch of Tata-Docomo GSM services here.

September 8th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Tata Docomo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices, Tuesday launched a short messaging service (SMS), called Diet-SMS, which enables customers to pay on a per-character basis. March 26th, 2009 NEW DELHI - The 26 percent stake sale in telecommunications major Tata Teleservices to Japanese telecom company NTT DoCoMo has been completed, the Indian company's parent Tata Sons said Thursday. 'DoCoMo has also completed its payment obligations under the tender offer and is preparing to acquire approximately 12 percent of the common shares of Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd through an open offer,' Tata Sons said in a regulatory statement.

March 23rd, 2009 NEW DELHI - Shyam Sistema Teleservices (SSTS), the joint venture between telecom equipment manufacturer and service provider Shyam Group and Russian telecom major Sistema SSA, will launch CDMA mobile services in two telecom circles, the Chennai-Tamil Nadu circle and Kerala, by this month-end, industry sources said. The company will launch the service in Chennai-Tamil Nadu circle March 26, and most likely by March 30 in Kerala, the sources said.
