February 11th, 2009 JAKARTA - At least 37 people were injured and many buildings damaged when an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale struck early Thursday off the northern tip of Indonesia's Sulawesi island, an official said. The quake hit Talaud Islands, a small archipelago off Sulawesi near the Philippines, and of the 37 people injured there, nine were in serious condition, said Rustam Pakaya, head of the Health Ministry's crisis centre.

January 3rd, 2009 JAKARTA/WASHINGTON - An underwater earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 on the Richter scale was recorded early Sunday off the coast of eastern Indonesia, the US Geological Survey said. The quake struck at 4.43 a.m.

December 28th, 2008 ISLAMABAD - An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted most parts of northwestern Pakistan Monday morning, a seismological centre said. The moderate earthquake also shook Pakistan's capital Islamabad, but there was no immediate report on casualties.
