Speeding bus plunges off road in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir; 25 dead, 30 injured

September 21st, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Two people were killed and one was seriously injured on National Highway-24 (NH-24) near Shipra Sun City in Ghaziabad early Monday when a speeding tourist bus hit them, police said. The three - identified as Janak Sharma, 24, Hari Khatri, 27, and Reshmi Thapa, 23 - were returning home after their night shift at a mall in Indirapuram area around 2.30 a.m.

September 16th, 2009 BHUBANESWAR - Six pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh on their way back from Orissa's temple town of Puri were killed when their bus was hit by a speeding truck, police said Thursday. Three more people were critically injured in the incident that took place late Wednesday in Bhadrak district.

September 7th, 2009 JAMMU - At least 25 people were killed and over 20 others injured when a bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into the Chenab river in the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Monday, police said. Twenty passengers were killed on the spot and five of the injured succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

According to reports reaching here, the bus was on its way to Jammu from Doda when it skidded off the road and rolled down into the Chenab river at Assar, about 150 km north-east of Jammu.

August 19th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least 16 people, including four children, were killed Wednesday when the passenger bus in which they were travelling veered off the road and fell into a gorge in northwest Pakistan, TV reports said. The accident occurred in the Mansehra area.

June 1st, 2009 NEW DELHI - A sub-inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was killed and a head constable injured when a speeding container truck hit their motorcycle from behind in north Delhi, police said Monday. Sub inspector Tejbir, 35, and head constable Sudhir Rana, 30, were returning home on a motorcycle when they were hit from behind by the speeding container truck in the Nangloi area late Sunday.
