Somdev, Prakash crash out of Korat challenger singles

May 20th, 2009 PARIS - India No.1 Somdev Devvarman survived a stern test from Brazilian Joao Souza 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 to advance to the second round of the men's qualifiers of the French Open tennis. Somdev was trailing 3-5 in the decider after Souza drew parity in the second set but fought back to win the match in nearly two-and-a-half hours here Tuesday.

May 14th, 2009 ZAGREB - India's Somdev Devvarman went down fighting to Brazilian Ricardo Hocevar in the second round of the $50,000 Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) challenger. Somdev, who is playing his first clay tournament of the season, lost 4-6, 6-7(4) here Wednesday.

May 12th, 2009 ZAGREB - India's Somdev Devvarman advanced to the second round of Zagreb Challenger tennis, beating Argentina's Leonardo Mayer here Tuesday. Somdev came back strongly after losing the first set to post a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory against the third seed Argentine in the $50,000 clay event.

April 11th, 2009 BATON ROUGE - India's Harsh Mankad and his American partner Scott Oudsema advanced to the doubles final but Somdev Devvarman and Treat Conrad Huey of Philippines faltered in the semi-final in the $50,000 ATP challenger tennis. April 8th, 2009 BATON ROUGE - India's Somdev Devvarman rallied from a set down to enter the second round of the $50,000 ATP Challenger tennis tournament. Somdev, seeded eighth, beat Korean Davis Cupper Kyu Tae Im 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-2 here Tuesday.

March 29th, 2009 KORAT - The top seeded pair of India's Rohan Bopanna and Pakistan's Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi clinched the $50,000 Korat Challenger here Sunday. The India-Pakistan pair won a hard fought final against the fourth-seeded Ratiwatana brothers -- Sanchai and Sonchat -- of Thailand 6-3, 6-7(5), 10-5.

March 26th, 2009 BANGKOK - India's Rohan Bopanna and Pakistan's Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi were given a fright by the Indian pair of Purav Raja and Ashutosh Singh before advancing to the doubles semifinal of the Korat tennis challenger here Thursday. The top-seeded India-Pakistan pair beat Purav and Ashutosh 4-6, 6-3, 13-11.

March 25th, 2009 KORAT - India's Somdev Devvarman and his South African partner Izak Van Der Merwe were beaten 4-6, 3-6 by second-seeded Russians Evgeny Donskoy and Dmitri Sita in a Korat tennis challenger doubles quarter-final Wednesday. Somdev's run in the singles had already come to an end Tuesday when he went down to Russian Alexandre Kudryavtsev 5-7, 3-6.
