The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), that manages the dam located in Himachal Pradesh, said that 28,000 cusecs of water would be released from the dam.

June 30th, 2009 CHANDIGARH - More water would be released from Bhakra and Pong dams after the level in their reservoirs increased in the last few days, an official said Tuesday much to the relief of Punjab and Haryana paddy farmers. A spokesman of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), that manages these dams, said the water release was being restored to 28,000 cusecs from Bhakra Dam while from Pong Dam it will be 7,000 cusecs.

June 25th, 2009 CHANDIGARH - The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), the authority that manages power projects in north India including the Bhakra and Pong dams, Thursday said it would reduce discharge of irrigation water to help maintain water levels in reservoirs following the forecast of a late and below-normal monsoon. The decision was made after a meeting of officials from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh here Thursday.

June 24th, 2009 CHANDIGARH - The depleting water level in the Bhakra Nangal dam is going to further problems of many north Indian States who depend heavily on it for irrigation and drinking water purposes. With a delayed monsoon and prevailing heat conditions, the level of water has reduced to 1,504 feet (450 metres), which is 90 feet less than what it was at the corresponding time last year.

April 15th, 2009 SASARAM - Security has been beefed up in and around the Border Security Force (BSF) camp in Dhansa Valley in Bihar's Rohtas District after a five-hour-long gun battle between the police and Maoist rebels on Wednesday. Over 100 naxals stormed the BSF camp armed with automatic guns and rocket launchers, but the camp was finally secured after a counter attack that forced the rebels to flee, reports Times Now.

March 21st, 2009 SHIMLA - The government of Himachal Pradesh has intensified the security measures at six hydel project sites in the state, including the Bhakra Dam, after receiving several threats from the militant outfits. The other project sites put on a terror alert includes the Chamera hydel project stage I and II in Chamba District, 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakhri Project, Pong Dam and Pandoh Dam in Mandi District.

December 23rd, 2008 PATNA - A day after a threat was received to blow up the coffer dam under construction near the Kusaha embankment, the Nepal government has beefed up security at the site and assured protection to the officials from Bihar posted there, officials said Wednesday.
