Russian security forces kill four militants

September 19th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Fifty-one suspected militants surrendered before security forces while seven were rounded up in Swat and Malakand, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday. An ISPR spokesman said in a statement 22 militants voluntarily surrendered to the security forces at Shah Derai, while 10 suspected militants surrendered at Gwalerai.

August 31st, 2009 JAMMU - A 40-year-old man was shot dead by suspected militants in a mountainous village of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir, police said Monday. The militants raided the house of Ghulam Mohammad in Chenjar village of Kishtwar, 220 km north-east of Jammu, and killed him late Sunday night.

August 31st, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Fifteen militants were killed in fighting with the security forces in northwest Pakistan, officials said Monday. The security forces also captured 22 militants during search operations in the Swat and Malakand districts in the past 24 hours till Monday evening, the Online news agency reported citing a statement of the Pakistan Army.

August 21st, 2009 ISLAMABAD - At least eight militants have been killed in clashes with security forces in the FR Janikhel area of Bannu District, the Dawn reported on Friday. Three security personnel were also injured as mortars fired by militants hit the FC Fort in the same area.

August 5th, 2009 SRINAGAR - Six separatist guerrillas were killed in three different gunbattles with security forces in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesperson said here Wednesday. An infiltration bid across the line of control (LoC) in the Tangdhar area was foiled early Wednesday by army personnel, who killed two militants.

July 24th, 2009 Military: Clashes kill 21 militants in NW PakistanISLAMABAD — Clashes in northwestern Pakistan, where the army has been winding down an offensive against the Taliban, have left 21 militants and one soldier dead, security forces said Friday. The bloodiest clash occurred in the Lower Dir district, an area near the Afghan border where the paramilitary Frontier Corps said security forces killed 16 militants.

The military issued a statement Friday saying the deaths occurred during search and clearance operations over the previous 24 hours in various parts of Swat.

In the past 24 hours to Thursday evening, the security forces have killed eight militants during search operations in North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and in the neighbouring areas, the army said in a statement.

Security forces surrounded the forest Friday on getting specific information about the presence of militants.

July 3rd, 2009 PESHAWAR - At least 11 militants were killed in fighting with the security forces in southern Pakistan, a media report said Monday. The security forces bombed militants' hideouts on the outskirts of Sarokai area in South Waziristan near the Afghan border, killing 11 militants Sunday, Geo TV reported.

June 1st, 2009 KABUL - Six Taliban militants have been killed in fighting with the security forces in Afghanistan's northwestern Badghis province, officials said Monday. "In chasing Taliban insurgents, the troops of Afghan national army engaged them (militants) in Balamurghab district Sunday, killing six rebels and injuring eight others," military officer Jalandar Behnam said Monday.

May 23rd, 2009 KABUL - Sixty Taliban militants have been killed in clashes with the Afghan and US-led coalition troops in southern Helmand province, officials said Saturday. "The Afghan National Army Commandos of the 205th Corps, assisted by coalition forces, killed 60 militants in Marja city in Helmand province," the Afghan and coalition troops said in a joint statement.

May 15th, 2009 ISLAMABAD - Pakistani troops have killed 55 militants in various parts of Swat valley during the last 24 hours. "Fifty-five miscreants have been killed in various areas of Swat during the last 24 hours while three security forces personnel embraced martyrdom and 11 others were injured," Pakistani military said in a statement.

April 27th, 2009 PESHAWAR - Pakistani security forces have killed at least 46 militants in a ground and air operation against the Taliban in the troubled Lower Dir on Monday, the army has said. According to security sources, 46 militants including two top commanders Qari Quresh and Maulana Shahid were killed by the Frontier Corps troops in Maidan area of Lower Dir.
