September 19th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - A lawyer was murdered and his daughter beaten up in their home by six armed men early Saturday when he refused to hand over some official papers to them, police said. The six masked men barged into the Shalimar Garden house of 70-year-old Nathu Ram, who practises at Delhi's Tis Hazari courts, and beat up his daughter Aruna when she refused to give them keys of the briefcase in which the documents were kept, police said.

September 14th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Two armed masked men robbed a cooperative bank of over Rs.1.7 lakh here Monday, police said. The heist occurred Monday in Govindpuri locality under the Modinagar police station of Ghaziabad.

September 12th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Rs.9.5 lakh (Rs.950,000) was stolen here Saturday from the car of a steel trader who is the son of a former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator, police said. The incident occurred Saturday afternoon in Loha Mandi under Kavi Nagar police station of Ghaziabad.

September 8th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - In a daylight robbery an armed man snatched a bag containing Rs.5 lakh from a trader here Tuesday, police said. Mohan Lal, a grain trader was on his way on a scooter from his Yamuna Vihar residence in Delhi to his office in Jawahar Nagar in Loni area of Ghaziabad and was carrying Rs.5 lakhs cash in a bag, police said.

June 21st, 2009 GHAZIABAD - In two separate incidents here, the houses of two software engineers were robbed of cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs.17 lakh, police said Sunday. In the first incident, Atul Tyagi, a software engineer who runs his own business and is a resident of Niti Khand in Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad returned home from an outstation visit to find that his front gate lock had been broken and robbers had decamped with jewellery, cash and other valuables worth Rs.15 lakh, police said.

June 2nd, 2009 AHMEDABAD - Two private security guards Tuesday foiled an attempt by three men to snatch away two bags of currency notes from bank officials outside an ATM in Gandhidham town of Kutch district, police said. The robbers had positioned themselves near the ATM at the IFFCO gate early in the morning to wait for the bank officials to arrive for putting cash in the machine, a police official said on telephone from Gandhidham, 300 km from Ahmedabad.

May 24th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - A dozen armed robbers looted industrial machines, tools and finished goods from a factory situated on National Highway 58, police said Sunday. The robbers, armed with pistols, knives and iron rods, late Saturday night barged into the factory after overpowering the guards and tying them up.

May 14th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - The autopsy of an industrialist's wife who was killed here earlier this week by robbers has revealed that she was murdered with a drilling machine, police said Thursday. Urmila, 55, wife of Sarvish Dadu, owner of the Noida-based Mayur Cables Ltd was murdered Monday and their house in Modinagar in Ghaziabad robbed of jewellery and valuables worth Rs.20 lakh, police said.

April 30th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Two armed men on a motorcycle robbed a 26-year-old salesman working with a telecom company here of Rs.1 lakh in cash and mobile re-charge coupons worth Rs.1.25 lakh, police said. Narendra Kumar was taking the cash and re-charge coupons in a bag to his company office in Vivekanand Nagar in Ghaziabad when he was intercepted by two motorcycle borne men.

April 6th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - An accountant and his colleague working in a factory here were robbed of Rs.1.30 lakh in cash and their scooter Monday when they were returning after withdrawing money from a bank, the police said. The accountant, Umesh Sharma, and his colleague Dinesh Kumar were on their way back from Shahdara around 5.00 p.m.

March 5th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - An angry mob went on the rampage here Wednesday, damaging a police post, over a dozen vehicles and critically injuring two policemen after two men were gunned down by the police allegedly for robbing a man. Residents of Ghaziabad set on fire the police post outside the New Bus Stand, burnt two police vehicles and 12 buses in the evening to protest the killing of the two men, said Superintendent of Police (traffic) Anil Kumar.

March 4th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Two men who robbed and beat up a victim in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad town early Wednesday were killed by police within hours, but two others escaped with the loot, an official said. Superintendent of Police Anant Dev told IANS that the robbers were shot dead in Indirapuram locality, adjacent to the national capital, around 4.30 a.m.

January 7th, 2009 GHAZIABAD - Four robbers looted Rs.2 million in cash and jewellery worth Rs.1.8 million from a shop in this satellite town of the national capital, the police said Thursday. According to the police, the robbery was committed in a jewellery shop in Shalimar Garden, an upscale market in Ghaziabad.
